"The Real Surfers Enjoy May in Goa" by Nikhil Mirkar

"Every good thing comes in small packages". So true! Goa is the smallest state of India by area but tops the list of richest Indian states. It is located in the Konkan region of west India; it shares its border with Maharashtra in the north and Karnataka in the east and south. Swaying palms, white sands and sparkling waters- the reason for the visit of 3 million international/ national tourists annually to Goa's balmy shores are plentiful in this tiny, glorious slice of India hugging the country's western coastline and bounded by the Arabian Sea. Beautiful beaches, Goan carnival, sunburn festival and vibrant culture is what that makes Goa a god's own place.

Most people associate the monsoons months of May-August with off-season in Goa. But a seasoned traveler can only tell the advantages of heading to Goa during this span of period. For one, long strolls on the beaches can be taken without having to bump into hordes of other eager tourists venture a little into the waters during the high tide. Although heavy duty adventure water sports take a backseat during the monsoons, but one can always make good use of a day with clear skies and indulge in the likes of parasailing, jetsking or bumper rides, that are relatively safe and don't require one to venture deep into the waters.

"It's not tragic to die doing something you love doing". Sometimes one just have to ride the wave one is given. Surfing is the most blissful experience one can have on this planet, a taste of heaven. As said by one of the most famous surfers Laird Hamilton-"For those searching for something more than just the norm. We lay it all down, including what others call sanity, for just a few moments on waves larger than life. We do this because we know there is still something greater than all of us. Something that inspires us spiritually. We start going downhill, when we stop taking risks." Skim the waves. Surf the seas. Float across the skies. The fabulous Goan coast of Goa is sprinkled with water sport excitements.

Goa is loaded with a number of water based sports and activities with October to May being the best season for enjoying water sports in Goa as then the skies are cloudless and blue and the waters fairly placid. It is performed on a windsurf board, which is around 2-4 meters long and is powered by the wind on a sail, attached to the windsurf board. It offers an exhilarating experience and is extremely thrilling and exciting.
